My name is Jan, the creator of the TICKER STICKER and owner of the Original Ticker Sticker Company. Opened in 2007, we are a small business located in Central New York.
As an avid viewer of cable news shows, (FOX NEWS, MSNBC, CNN, CNBC) I am really bothered by those news and information tickers that constantly scroll over & over. Seriously, they give me a headache and are a real distraction. I'm watching a news show and no matter how hard I try, I can't help but start reading those tickers and I don't hear what's being said! Setting out to find something on the market I could buy to cover them up and not finding anything already out there, I decided to create a product to solve what I thought was only a nuisance to me. I needed to create something that completely hid the ticker, was quick and easy to apply, removable, re-usable, and wouldn't leave a sticky residue on my tv screen. Many attempts and prototypes later, I came up with a perfect solution and boy, was I thrilled!
After showing my product to friends and acquaintances, I quickly found out that they, too, were annoyed by those tickers, and not just news tickers . . . movie tickers and school closing tickers and sports tickers and stock tickers and so on and so on. One friend mentioned that he wrapped a blanket around the bottom of his television screen to cover the ticker in an attempt to watch a movie and yet another admitted to sticking duct-tape over the ticker! So with that, I decided there was a market for my little creation and decided to start a business around it.
Soon to be appearing on store shelves, TICKER STICKERS are now available on-line exclusively for anyone who gets tired of watching those tickers.
